AAA Collectors, Triple Check
AAA Collectors Triple Check abusive, harrassing, disregarding of Fair Debt Collection Act, mail flooding, nonresponsive Ripoff

AAA Collectors sent demands for payment at my parents' house in California where I have not resided in a few years. My mother sent me a care package with the mail that had come there for me.included in the box, was demands of payment from AAA Collectors. I never received any mail from them at my address only my parents'.

When I contacted them for the first time on March 30, they informed me that the amount had gone up because I did not pay any attention to certified letters that were delivered and received at my address on January 25. I told them that I never received anything from them at my address and I explained that they address they had was my parents' in California and that I had been in New Jersey since July. I also explained that I hadn't lived with my parents for a few years before I moved to New Jersey.

I was finally able to talk to the supervisor (Roxy Moore) and she told me that the amount that I owed had gone up because these certified letters were delivered at my address informed me that I had 30 days to pay. Again, I told her that I never received certified letters and she insisted that I did receive them on January 25 and that if I had paid attention to them instead of ignoring them I would have realized that. Roxy Moore also told me that they had been trying to contact me since November and December. I told her that I never received those notices and that I only received the ones that my mom had sent to me, hence my phone call to them. She gave me a confirmation number from the post office so I could look at the status of it. I tried to explain to her that I am a full time college student without an income, but that I do get an allowance and I would like to make payment arrangements.

She told me that making payments would not be possible. She then began to yell and make personal attacks on me saying things along the lines of that I brought this all on myself and that I am irresponsible for not paying this ahead of time. She also told me that everyone knows when their checks are going to bounce and that a responsible person would balance their checkbook. I asked her three different times to quit making attacks on me and that I just wanted to get this taken care of the best that I could. She still continued making attacks on me, my integrity and my honesty I got so frustrated that I thanked her for her time and I hung up.

After I calmed myself down, I called back and asked who Ms. Roxy Moore's supervisor was. I was able to obtain that information, but was told that she would be on vacation for the next three weeks. How convenient!

After that initial phone call, my mailbox was flooded with demands of payment from AAA Collectors. I was receiving at least 2 pieces of mail from them every week for almost a month. I also went online to the US Postal Service website to check the status of those certified letters that AAA Collectors claimed had been delivered and received. I found out that those certified letters were attempted to be delivered to my parents' house, but they were sent back to the sender being AAA Collectors.

After three weeks, I began calling the Office Manager Lori Harding at AAA Collectors. The representative couldn't give me a better time to call her because she wasn't in so I left a message on her voicemail on April 25 at 12:03 P.M. EST and then again at 3:37 P.M. I did not receive a callback. On April 26 at 10:05 A.M. I called and asked for Ms. Harding or her voicemail. The representative tried to tell me that she did not have voicemail. I told the rep. That I had no problem calling the day before and being transferred to her voicemail. So again, I left a message. I called again that day at 5:23 P.M. And left yet another message. On April 27 at 11:16 A.M. EST I called and was transferred to Ms. Harding's voicemail where I left another message. Again on April 28 at 2:25 P.M. EST I called and left another message. I did not receive a callback. I continued leaving messages on the Ms. Lori Harding's voicemail at least twice a day for two weeks and still no response.

On May 13 I sent a copy of the confirmation that the letters were never received along with a partial payment and a letter stating that their continued non communication with me would be acceptance of the payment. A few days ago I received another demand of payment from AAA Collectors dated May 26 with a note from the Ms. Lori Harding, stating that they are returning my partial payment and to "remit payment in full by return mail."

I have tried continuously to get in contact with the Office Manager and I haven't received a phone call, just demands to pay. I am sending another partial payment to them tomorrow by certified mail and I am hoping that they accept that. We'll see.
