I am a customer of AT&T (now Cingular). They have no record of the $377 collection on my credit report. Fortunately, I have about 10 years of experience in FICO and credit reports. First, DO NOT visit their website and file a complaint. The messages are not encrypted and I can only guess what kind of spyware they have to make an even bigger mess.
Here is what you need to do to get this off of your credit report. Write all three credit bureaus a letter just like this:
Dear (Experian, Equifax, TransUnion)
I have enclosed a copy of my credit report and circled an item that is incorrect and should not be on my credit report. Please investigate this item and remove it immediately. This item is very damaging to my credit report and should not be on there. I have tried to contact this agency. They refuse to provide any proof of this collection.
Please contact me immediately when this item is removed and your investigation is complete.
The addresses are:
Equifax
p.O. Box 740241
atlanta, ga 30374
Experian
p.O. Box 2002
allen, tx 75013
Transunion
p.O. Box 1000
chester, pa 19022
If you need to have your credit score rescored immediately then contact Rapid Rescore
I am not affiliated with them but they can remove this within 3 days but they charge $50 per tradeline.
EVERYONE who has a collection from them needs to file a complaint with the Attorney General's Office in Missouri and Georgia. They will close these guys down once we get them onto their scam. The Attorney General will open a formal investigation for each case so let's put some heat back on them. Contact me if you need advice on any of this.
