I recieved a letter from I think it was NCO financial once before regarding a bill my husband had with Cross Country Bank, I had been waitin for the notice so I could take care of it and luckily they offered me a settlement! I was excited about the settlement offer so I called them to find out how to take advantage of it. The girl that took my call spoke broken english and conveyed to me that I had to have called within 10 days of THE DATE OF THE LETTER to take advantage of the settlement offer. I explained to her that I had just recieved the letter either that day or the day before, she again told me that I had to have called within 10 days of the date of the letter to have the offer be considered. I was understandably and obviously upset with that, I let her know I was upset and hung up. She called me back (I guess they have caller I.D., thats kinda scary) and asked me if I got disconnected, I said "NO I hung up on you, bye". And that was it!
Well now several months later I recieve another settlement offer, with the same 50% offer. I tried to call the company to take advantage of it and the number they have listed on the bill (1-800-934-3194) gives me a recording that it is not accessible from my phone, or my husbands phone (we have cell phones). I thought it was something wrong with our phones so I called the carrier, they said we had no blocks on our phones and even tried the number themselves, it wouldnt work for them either.
So I got on the internet and looked up the company in the corresponding state and called all the numbers I could find, they have me other numbers to call... No answer. I tried other numbers for other states and got one in NY (state I live in) and they tried to refer me back to those 2 toll free numbers that didnt work for me before. The people I spoke to said the offices are closed on saturday but the hours on the letter contradict that, they read as follows... 8am-9pm Mon-Thurs., 8am-5pm Friday, and 8am-12pm Saturday est, I live in NY!
So... I just gave up and called the company that the bill is originally from, well they answered and told me everything I had spent an hour on the phone trying to call NCO to find out. Sorry this was so long but its frustrating, I know you all understand!
