I am forming a group of to represent individuals who have been harmed by Long Beach Acceptance Corp. I am working with an Attorney and welcome any persons who have be unjustly harmed. I have dealt with LBAC for 8 years. I have found that they violate collections laws continually. Complaining to their managers doesn't work, but contacting their corporate in NJ can buy you some time. The big guys don't like to deal with complaints there. Granted that I was paying late 30 days a number months because I was on disability for an injury, I did make the good faith effort to continue making full payments to them.
Between 7 and 10, in 4 months time I made approximately $2,000 dollars in payments to this comapny in an effort to bring the account current and pay the loan off. Of course even after making a number of payments on a regular 30 day basis I myself, my family, friends and even friends of family members were harrassed! Many collectors in this company does not have any respect for privacy laws or the Federal Trade Commission. Many do and will share your private information to everyone they think will lead them to your whereabouts. My loan pay off was scheduled for 10.
In 10 the car was paid off. LBAC instead listed a derrogatory comment on the report as "Charged OFF" Bad debt. Now I have a negative listing for a $20,000 loan that should say "Paid" in good standing. I have made numerous attemps of sending letters with receipts and have gotten no response from LBAC Collection Managers. They continue to send me notices saying I owe over $1,000 in deficiency and refuse to give me my title although I have sent them proof of final payment. I cannot sell the car and purchase a new one without the title and without a positive rating on my loaning showing the interest rate is sky high. The car has well over 100,00 miles and will not last much longer. However, I have sought legal council and they are in violation of at least 3 laws.
I will let my attorney's collect for anything the law will rightfully give to me for the emotional, mental, financial and physical stress this entire ordeal has put me through.
