Ripoff Ridiculous amount of fees

I found this site by accident when I was searching online just to find a contact phone number for First Premier Bank. They don't list one on their website... Strike one.

I would like to start by saying that no rebuttal on the basis of defending this company is deserved.

My story is like that of many of the other people that have written to complain about this company. Who reads ALL the fine print before they send an application? I'm sure that some people do, but the vast majority of us make the faulty assumption that the company will be trustworthy and that reading the entirety of the customer agreement isn't truly necessary. Well, First Premeir... You got me. I learned my lesson.

I first noticed the a*inine amount of fees associated with my card after I received it. I found that just by accepting the card, I automatically owed roughly $200. I read over the list of associated charges and was apalled.

When I called the company to question them about these fees I got no answers. When I said the magic words "Cancel my card, I'm not going to use it" I was put in touch with a supervisor whose basic defense of their myriad of fees was that it was a small price to pay for getting my credit history reported to ALL 3 CREDIT BUREAUS... EVERY MONTH!!! I don't personally think it was impressive enough to warrant all capitals and the exclamations, but that's pretty much the way he said it.

Anyway, I told him that I wanted to cancel the card because the fees were bogus and he immediately took something like $80-$100 off my balance. Why did they NEED to be there in the first place? And why is it that reputable credit card providers charge only an interest rate, but First Premeir charges a monthly maintenance fee? And FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!! WHY should I have to pay a fee to access my account online? I've had a couple of other credit cards over the years, and say, Capital One for example doesn't find it necessary to charge me just for the ability to look up my account information online.

I'm rambling now... Point being, this card IS indeed a ripoff. They act like they're doing you a favor by charging you ridiculous amounts of money for things that there are no charge for elsewhere.

Vultures.
