I used to feel good about using my American Express card, knowing the company would handle disputes fairly. Last September I had a moving company package family possessions to be shipped by UPS to relatives throughout the US. UPS refused to accept the packages because they were so poorly wrapped. I have disputed the charges on my AMEX card three times. The AMEX customer service reps have all been very understanding and opened/reopened my claims when they understand that the documentation provided by the vendor does not even relate to the charge, and when I provide them with information which will allow their dispute department to see actual photos of the packaging. Each time, however, the vendor has given AMEX information that is totally unrelated to this charge, and they've sided with the vendor... Making no attempt to verify my claim! I am EXTREMELY disappointed and angry that I am unable to contact anyone in the dispute department to get my side of the transaction understood. Might be time to brush off my Visa card.
