American Express not honouring promotion - American Express Premium Gold

American Express Premium Gold
I applied for this card late last year and was thrilled to be approved. Amex had been known for outstanding customer service and many other benefits. I like to pay off all accounts monthly so Amex fit my needs or so I thought. The card came with an offer of 25,000 bonus points if I spent $2000 within three months. Or so they said at first. I spent that amount within a week or two and paid it off immediately. Then I started to wait for the points promised in every single promotion. Nothing. I called the number on the back of the card and the lady said within a month of meeting the minimum spending. The date came and nothing. Oh, they added the points I earned by spending (how I wish now I could have earned thousands I'd airline or hotel miles from a reputable card company.)

Then I called again-and Amex is not like Discover, you are kept waiting on hold for an unreasonable length of time), and the person said I'd receive the points after two months. When that date passed, I spent my day off contacting "customer service" and they said I never was going to collect those points because I never had been made such an offer!

They said I could write a real old school letter to an address in Florida. I sent them printed out screed shots of the 25,000 points offer and a detailed typed and printed letter.

This week, I got an email saying they were not going to give me the points-no name, not even the courtesy of a real letter from a real person.

I feel the whole thing was a scam. I would have gladly paid the $175 annual fee indefinitely had they honoured their promise. Now though, what with I feel is a bait and switch operation by Amex, and the fact that I am kept waiting every I phone them, and with being given humiliating "busy work" i.E., printed letters, printed out screen shots, etc., and the fact that so many places do not accept American Express, I hardly feel that this company is what it once was.
