I placed an order for a sapphire & diamond pendant and chain with QP Jewellers on 14th July as a special birthday present for my daughter with QP.

The shipment, originating in Los Angeles and handled by FedEx, never arrived, although QP took my payment straightaway. I even took a day off work resulting in the loss of a day’s pay! When I raised the issue, I was made to feel like a criminal by QP who claimed that the delivery had been signed for. They said that the signature was my surname it seems someone had cleverly put a dot after the first letter. I live in a house, not an office with a reception as on the delivery notification. I requested a copy of the signed delivery note but never got one! It took some time and numerous telephone calls and emails to get QP to authorise a replacement shipment. They had also left it to me to communicate with FedEx in the first instance, effectively doing little themselves. Eventually, I was advised that a replacement was on its way. The FedEx tracking system kept changing the date and status of the delivery. On the day that the second shipment was due to arrive as I was not sure when it was coming (all I knew was it was local) I had to ring Fedex as it had not arrived and was late for work, with loss of income again. Once again, it never arrived. The local FedEx office told me that the delivery driver had already tried to deliver the consignment and there was no one there and had left a note. They connected me to the driver who was, by then, elsewhere in the town. It transpired that he had tried to deliver to the wrong address. FedEx eventually found the address (which has not changed in the 40 years since the property was built!) and the consignment was delivered. After complaining about the delivery issues I was offered a menial goodwill gesture of 5% by QP.

The actual product was enclosed in the cheapest possible ring-sized black presentation box that did not show it off at all well and even though pretty was tiny! I asked QP to source a more appropriate presentation box, but they said that they were unable to – most surprising for a jeweller and offered to give me a full refund! I even sent a link of a suitable reasonably priced pendant box asking that they purchase or reimburse me – this was refused! For items supposedly worth almost £500 – I find this very odd, I suspect that they couldn’t be bothered. Unfortunately, as I was seeing my daughter before she set off abroad and wouldn’t be with her for her birthday, I had no choice but to keep the item and purchased a box myself!

All in all, this has been a dreadful experience, taking over 4 weeks from original order to fulfil. Both QP, and their chosen shippers FedEx provided a service that left much to be desired. Had I had time and found this company prior I would have used them instead….. Please see the website link http://www.thediamondstore.co.uk
