Billing - Billing Dept is very inadequate

DirecTV customer service suck, Reason why is because i cancelled my account three months ago due to poor customer service, paid my final bill and returned their equipment, three weeks late i got a bill in the mail saying that i hold them $32.08 for pay per view back in 2008. Because when i paid my final bill my account balance was zero, so i asked one off the represnetative to send my all my statement for 2008 so i can verified the charges, now they are telling me that they dont know if they can go that far back.in my opinion they are tiring to rip me off. Can i take a legal actio because this is ridiculous
