I was in a car accident in December, with Allstate full coverage, and was T-boned on the right side. Allstate told me to get an attorney, so I did. It dragged on for years, and then just before taking the driver to court, Allstate took me to arbitration. I won that, but just before and after it they stopped paying my medical bills, and after that they paid nothing more.
We went to court. I had to pay for my own attorney, while the other driver had a Geico attorney, and we could not bring up insurance during the 2 days of trial. I won the claim, and the money awarded to me was $9,500. I had to take $3,700 of it toward the medical bills that Allstate refused to pay, and I had to pay the rest to my attorney, so I had nothing left.
I was injured with soft tissue damage to my neck and back. I had 3 cortisone shots in my neck and spine, I suffer chronic pain, I take a lot of pain medication, and I have suffered ever since. It has only gotten worse. I think Allstate should be sued for false advertising. They surely did not stand by me. I was supposed to be reimbursed for my lost wages and for the loss of my ability to do the job I was trying to do.
I was a CNA and a caregiver, but because of the accident I was unable to keep my CNA certification or advance to become a nurse, and I still have to support my family. I tried to apply for disability, but I have to work to support my family or we starve. To this day I still work, even if I have to lie and say I can do the job required of me, even though I am in pain.
