Maggots Found in Two Brands of Canned Beans, Company Silent

My family and I were eating dinner when I noticed little worms in the food we were eating. I told everybody to stop eating and made the kids go play. All the kids but one were happy to go play. My oldest girl got very upset because she was hungry, so I went ahead and told her about the little worms. She was in shock; she thought I was playing some kind of sick prank. I felt awful.

Needless to say, she had trouble eating for a while, and I think we all did. I got a hold of a lawyer and contacted the company. The company sent me some coupons for some free cans of beans and also coupons for like 25 and 50 cents off a can. I don't want to eat Bush beans ever again.

I need to finish my story, sorry. That same day we found the worms in the Bush Beans Homestyle. My little girl was still hungry, and so was I. The only things we had left were some bacon, eggs, sausage and Van Camp's Pork and Beans. The last thing we wanted was to even look at beans, but I thought I might look at them anyway. What are the odds they had them too? Man, they had them too! No joke.

I really freaked out then! I had just bought those cans a couple of days ago at the supermarket, and I still had the receipt. This has been such a freakish thing for us to deal with. I have seen my children pick their food apart, inspecting it before they eat, and I have done it myself. It is the worst thing to go through, seeing my family scared to eat.

I think there are a few details I need to explain. The maggots were very small; I used a magnifying glass and the internet to find out what they were. They were not moving. I think they were cooked (they weren't moving, and the food tasted OK). I even smelled the Bush Homestyle beans and the Van Camp's Pork and Beans, and they smelled OK also. The cans weren't old; they were fresh. I complained to the store, and they were in shock and disbelief. They gave me 2 Van Camp's and 2 Bush Bean cans to replace the bad ones. I opened one of the Bush beans at my mom's house to prove to my mom and brother what I had told him about the worms, and I swear it had the little maggots also! I freaked out. I couldn't believe it, but it was there in front of me, not as many but still maggots.

I typed "maggot" into the internet and found out there is a big problem with bean and corn fly maggots, or larva. The company will not respond to my lawyer. What I want to know is, are they still selling this product with the maggots in it? Is it safe? I doubt it. What do you folks think I should have done? What should I do? What would you do?

I almost forgot: the company that makes the Van Camp's Pork and Beans is ConAgra Foods. The can of Bush Baked Beans doesn't say where or who made them besides Bush Brothers and Company. I am at a loss. Two different cans of beans, same bugs! The internet did show an infestation in the bean and corn farms, but you would think this kind of thing could have, should have, been prevented. Period.
