Conagra Brands complaints: where to take a problem and who else handles it

This page was checked on 2026-10-20. Conagra Brands' Contact Us page (conagrabrands.com/contact-us) asks the visitor to pick a 'Nature of inquiry' before continuing; the options listed are Consumer Feedback, Coupons, Where to Buy, Donations, New Business, Conagra Brands Foundation and Technical Assistance. Keep the package, the date code and the lot numbers, and photograph the product and any foreign object. The company's FAQ says: "The date code is the string of numbers and letters coded onto a package that indicate the date of production, not the expiration date."

  • Corporate contact. The company's SEC filing gives (312) 549-5000 as its telephone number and 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 1300, Chicago, IL 60654 as its address. We did not find a consumer-complaint telephone line on the Contact Us page or the FAQ page, so use the form for product problems.
  • Recalls. Meat and poultry recalls are listed by USDA FSIS (fsis.usda.gov/recalls); other foods appear in FDA's recall and enforcement data. See the recall section below for what those lists showed on 2026-10-20. A recalled product is a different matter from an ordinary quality complaint.
  • Food-safety reports. Illness or injury from a food product can be reported to FDA or, for meat and poultry products, to USDA FSIS. We did not re-read those agencies' reporting pages on 2026-10-20, so check their current instructions.
  • State attorneys general and BBB. Consumers can also file with their state attorney general. BBB accepts complaints through the Conagra Brands profile (see the complaint-record section for the figures as displayed).
  • Cooking-spray injury claims. Conagra's annual report describes product-liability suits about Pam cooking spray; see the litigation section.

Recalls on FSIS and FDA lists (not enforcement findings)

A recall is a company or regulator notice about a specific product lot; it is not a finding that the company broke a law. We read two government lists on 2026-10-20.

USDA FSIS recall list. Searching the list returned by FSIS's recall API (2,031 entries returned on 2026-10-20) for the name Conagra, we read these entries for Conagra Brands: 2023-09-02, 'ConAgra Brands Inc. Recalls Banquet Brand Frozen Chicken Strips Entree Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination' (FSIS class I); 2023-06-16, 'Conagra Brands, Inc., Recalls Frozen Beef Shepherd's Pie Products Due to Possible Foreign Matter Contamination' (class II); 2023-01-31, 'Conagra Brands Recalls Canned Meat and Poultry Products Due to Possible Packaging Defect' (class I); 2022-07-30, 'Conagra Brands, Inc., Recalls Frozen Beef Products Due to Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens' (class I). The search found no later FSIS entry naming Conagra; this is limited to the list as returned on 2026-10-20.

FDA enforcement data. The openFDA food enforcement database returned 33 records for recalling firms matching 'Conagra'. The most recent in the sorted results was reported 2022-03-23: Rosarita Organic Refried Beans, class II, reason 'Foreign Material - Small Rocks', status 'Terminated'. Earlier records included Wishbone dressings (undeclared eggs, reported 2022-02-16) and Birds Eye Broccoli Tots (small rocks and metal fragments, reported 2021-12-15). This is a name search of one database and may not capture every recall of every Conagra brand; check the product's lot code against the company's and agencies' current recall notices.

Pinnacle-era recalls. Records filed under the recalling firm name 'Pinnacle Foods, LLC' do not appear in a search for 'Conagra'. An openFDA query for that firm name returned 33 records on 2026-10-20; the most recent was reported 2017-06-14 (Aunt Jemima frozen waffles and pancakes, class II, reason 'Potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination').

Who operates Conagra Brands

Conagra Brands, Inc. is a Delaware corporation whose principal executive offices are at 222 W. Merchandise Mart Plaza, Suite 1300, Chicago, Illinois 60654; its stock trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CAG (Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended May 31, 2026, filed 2026-07-15). The 10-K says the company was 'initially incorporated as a Nebraska corporation in 1919' and reincorporated as a Delaware corporation in 1976, and lists brands including Birds Eye, Duncan Hines, Healthy Choice, Marie Callender's, Reddi-wip, Slim Jim and Angie's BOOMCHICKAPOP. SEC records show the registrant was named ConAgra Foods, Inc. until October 2016; BBB lists 'Conagra Foods, Inc.' as an alternate name.

The company's Who We Are page (read 2026-10-20) gives these figures 'as of FY26': 41 production facilities, about 17,400 employees and about $11 billion in net sales. These are the company's statements.

Divested brands. The 10-Q (period ended August 30, 2026) says that in the first quarter of fiscal 2026 the company 'completed the sale of our Chef Boyardee® business' and 'the sale of our frozen fish business, which includes our Van De Kamp's® and Mrs. Paul's® brands'; the buyers are not named there. The Contact Us brand list still included Chef Boyardee, Van de Kamp's and Mrs. Paul's on 2026-10-20, so for a product under those names check the package for the current manufacturer.

Pinnacle Foods. Recalls filed under the Pinnacle name appear separately in FDA data (see the recall section). The 10-K refers to brands 'acquired as part of the Pinnacle acquisition' recorded at fair value in fiscal 2019. Consumer posts on this site from before the acquisition name 'Pinnacle Foods' or 'Pinnacle Food Group' as the business; those posts are included in the count below because the brands are now part of Conagra's portfolio.

BBB (profile for Conagra Brands, Chicago, IL, covering headquarters and corporate-owned locations), as displayed on 2026-10-20: BBB Accredited Business; BBB Rating A+; '33 complaints in the last 3 years' and '9 complaints in the last 12 months'; customer reviews '1.16 /5 stars, Average of 32 Customer Reviews'. Trustpilot, as displayed on 2026-10-20: 1.7 from 21 reviews; unclaimed profile; Trustpilot states it does not fact-check reviews. These platform figures are shown separately and are not added to each other or to this site's count.

This site's archive. 18 approved complaints from 2003 to 2013 name ConAgra Foods, Pinnacle Foods / Pinnacle Food Group or one of the company's food brands such as Healthy Choice meals, Banquet or Orville Redenbacher as the subject. One 2004 post reports worms in Bush's Homestyle beans and in Van Camp's pork and beans. The posts are individual, unverified consumer statements, and all are at least thirteen years old. Posts about unrelated supplement offers that merely use the name 'Healthy Choice' are not linked.

Court cases and the company's own litigation disclosures

The company's annual report (Form 10-K, Note 16 'Contingencies') says it is party to 'a number of matters asserting product liability claims against the Company related to certain Pam and other cooking spray products', that it denies liability, and that it has 'settled all but a few of these matters'. It reports settlement payments of $141.1 million in fiscal 2026 and $25 million in fiscal 2025, and an additional $44.3 million payment due in the first quarter of fiscal 2027; the quarterly report (Form 10-Q for the period ended August 30, 2026) says that $44.3 million was paid.

Esparza v. Conagra Brands, Inc., et al. The 10-K says that in the third quarter of fiscal 2026 'a jury entered a verdict against the Company for $25 million in compensatory damages' in a suit by a consumer who claimed personal injury from alleged exposure to diacetyl from Pam butter flavored cooking spray, and that an initial judgment of $22.9 million was entered in the fourth quarter. The 10-Q says the verdict was reduced after post-trial motions to a $22.9 million final judgment in the first quarter of fiscal 2027 and that 'The Company has filed an appeal.' The filings do not name the court or the plaintiff in their text. The Daily Journal (Feb. 9, 2026) reports the unanimous verdict was delivered in Los Angeles Superior Court to a plaintiff named Roland Esparza; the case number was not verified on 2026-10-20.

The 10-Q also says the company is party to other suits including 'pending litigation alleging that certain of our products should be considered "ultra-processed"'; these are allegations, and the filing is the source.

Legacy matters. The 10-K says that in 2019 the company 'resolved a legacy litigation matter related to lead-based paint and/or pigment manufactured by an alleged predecessor' for a total settlement of $101.7 million, and that its accrual for environmental matters related to Beatrice totaled $39.4 million as of May 31, 2026; the 10-Q says that accrual totaled $41.7 million as of August 30, 2026, and that the accrual for all litigation matters that are probable and estimable was $20.0 million as of August 30, 2026. The company states that management believes the ultimate resolution of such matters should not have a material adverse effect on its financial condition.

Other Pam suits. The cooking-spray suits are not limited to diacetyl claims. Yahoo News (updated Nov. 2, 2023) reported that an Illinois jury awarded $7.1 million to a Pennsylvania woman burned when a can of cooking spray 'over-pressurized and exploded', and that 'Fifty-six cases involving 61 injured plaintiffs have been filed' against Conagra. That is a press report; we did not verify the dockets.
