I called my bank, which is BBandT, and made sure I understood what Available and Current mean. They told me that the available balance showed a deposit being made. It was my paycheck coming through. That was Friday. Saturday morning I checked online again, and this time it showed an overdraft fee that was taken out after my paycheck had been deposited. The overdraft fee was for something that was being taken out at the same time my check was being deposited. Instead of taking into consideration that my paycheck was coming in, they went ahead and gave me an overdraft fee, even though I really had money coming in to cover everything.
I called the bank and was informed that if I used my debit card on the 8th and deposited on the 9th, they will go by the amount in my account on the 8th, even though the bill from the 8th was not sent to the bank until after the deposit. See what I mean? If I paid a bill with my debit card on the 8th and it did not go through my bank until the 9th, they will go by my account information as of the 8th, not when the bill came through the bank. They will not consider the deposit that was credited to the bank on the 9th when they deal with the bill. So I got an overdraft fee even though the deposit was coming in and they knew it was coming in too.
I am so mad. It's stealing and they know it and don't care. How can they do that and not consider the deposit coming in at the same time, and still give an overdraft fee? I plan on changing banks. I know it will mess up my direct deposit. Yes, I do have direct deposit and it does not help either. NO, it is not my bad money handling. It is BBandT. I plan on changing banks as soon as possible.
