Well, my ripoff started because of my husband. The government froze our checking account. It takes 45 days for the frozen funds to be removed by the government. That's the background!!!
The bank did not notify me of the freeze for two weeks after the fact, so of course I went about business as usual. As a courtesy, the bank paid all of the checks and charges from my account. The clincher is that they charged me a $30 NSF charge for each debit from the account.
Once the original amount of money that was in the account was removed, the bank started charging me a $30 fee for an overdrawn account. At the end of the 45-day period, I was in debt to the bank for $628.00, of which they had actually paid out $230.00 from my checks. So not only did the government get the initial balance, BB and T capitalized on our downfall by about $400.00.
I tried to rebut these charges; however, they claim it is just a courtesy to their customers. So now I am unable to get a checking account ANYWHERE due to their courtesy. I truly believe their only courtesy was to themselves.
