My husband and I took out landlord insurance with Allstate. We asked the question: if for any reason a tenant damages our house, will the insurance pay to have it fixed? The woman looked us straight in the eyes and said, "Of course. That's why we offer landlord insurance."
Sure enough, we got tenants. They refused to pay rent, and we evicted them. They trashed the house, causing approximately 50,000 in damage. Allstate refuses to pay. Allstate refused to send an insurance adjuster. Allstate said the only way we were covered was if they set the house on fire, blew it up and flooded it, and we are not covered for flood.
Stay away from Allstate. After looking into the matter, I have learned that the worst insurance companies are Allstate, State Farm, Nationwide, Progressive and that little lizard.
