I worked as the Grooming Salon Manager for Petco. I have been a groomer for close to 17 years. My job duties were to train and correct all personnel in the salon. This meant that I had to watch all the animals being groomed and check for the best groom to go out the door.
I am no longer with that company, and I would advise anyone thinking of working for them to watch closely how they treat the people who work for them.
You have Regional Managers, District Managers, Store Managers, etc. I had a Store Manager for the first 4 months who used terms I consider to be harassing in nature. He had a friend of his hired to work in the salon, whose husband worked across the street. Any time I would say something to this person, the boss would chew on me for it. Her husband was in my face all the time, or, more frankly, a pain in my lower back side.
I did address this with my boss. His answer was, "Oh, don't be such a..." They then turned around and hired this husband to work in the store (another department), and this caused even more problems. Now he was in the salon and in my face and following me around the store.
A new Store Manager came in, and "Oh, he's so wonderful." I addressed the intimidation I feel by this person and the harassment I feel. Her response was that he will stand anywhere he wants and he can say anything he wants, and that I had better change my body language. They then proceeded to continue the harassment, and I ended up on antidepressants just so I could go to work. I quit, only because I felt pressured and harassed into it.
