When I first signed up for DirecTV, I called one of their affiliates. I asked the woman if I could get out of the contract at any time. She said yes. I also asked her if there were any early cancellation fees, and she told me no. I told her that I had less than forty dollars to spend every month and that I needed the wrestling channels for my sick mom. She told me she could put me in a Choice package with 150 channels for thirty-eight dollars a month, taxes included.
She also told me that if I signed up that day I would get a free DVR. I said great, sign me up. When I got my first bill, which was almost seventy dollars, I flipped out. I called them to cancel my service, and DirecTV told me there would be a three hundred forty-two dollar early cancellation fee. I said, what? I told them I was told by one of their reps that there was no termination fee. They said I needed to pay or a judgment would be held against me. There needs to be something done with these criminals! They lie to people to get them to sign up, and then they pull the rug out from under them. The government needs to do something about this company. They are liars and cannot be trusted!
