The Sun Trust checking account policy is designed to rip people off. Can you imagine, their own personal check that was provided to me when I went into the bank to withdraw money was held for more than five days before it cleared, with an NSF fee of $35 charged twice. This is not funny at all. It has not been 6 months since I opened my checking account with Sun Trust, and I have been balancing my account whenever I use my card for purchases. Unfortunately, Sun Trust needs to post your transactions, and they are always pending for more than 5 days. After all, it is a system designed to get you ripped off. When I make a purchase, the amount is subtracted from the balance I have in my checking, even with debit, but Sun Trust still holds all these pending items, waiting to charge me their $35.00 fees as usual.
On February 6th my account was at -$370 and there was no purchase made with my card. When I drove to the bank, I was told that those charges were pending transactions I made 7 days earlier, which had to be released on the same day (February 7th), and all my paycheck was given to Sun Trust. Sun Trust will never pay you back your money because they know exactly what they are doing. They are just out there to rip people off. I am calling my lawyer because this is totally insane. I am a student working part-time trying to survive, and you are taking my hard-earned money just like that. No way.
I know how to balance my account, and you cannot keep telling me that you held my check for 5 days and later released it to be posted when you knew you would get money from me. Even one dollar transactions have to be pending for days so that they will charge you $35.00 NSF fees or whatever they call it. I know and I believe that they know what they are doing by setting the system up like this in order to get you. Even your own printed check has to be pending for 5 days. Totally insane.
