I tried to vote online for ABC's Dancing With the Stars and was told that I first had to create an account at ABC.com. Doing so required typing in my email address and creating a password, which is common for websites, However, when I attempted to create an account I was told that my email account was already "taken, " so I was unable to create an account. I have never previously attempted to create an account at ABC.com, so it is obvious that someone else must have been able to create an account using my email address. This gives credence to the recent CNN broadcast suggesting that people are creating fake email addresses to enable them to cast more votes for DWTS contestants than they are entitled to cast. Because of this I was unable to cast any online votes at all. I complained to ABC about this on a portion of the website that suggested it could be used to lodge complaints, and I got an electronic form email back stating something like "obviously we get too many of these emails to actually respond to them." Thus, I was not able to even lodge a complaint with ABC or figure out what I would need to do to get my email address "freed up" so I might be able to use the online voting method at some point in the future.
