I just wanted to let you know why I canceled my service today after 10 years. I have had 4 receivers and maximum programing for a decade and I very unhappy with the service. Although I have been responsible for maintaining my own equipment and paying for service. I was unable to get all the programing that I have paid for because the channels did not work on obsolete receivers. Your company decided to eliminate programing for 2 of the receivers that I had but was still charged for that programing. I purchased 2 new receivers and paid full cost and did not lease them. Since one of the 'cards' failed after only 2 days I needed to replace it and they offered to waive the $20 fee for the new card. I do own these receivers and now I am being asked to return them to DirecTV with no compensation. I canceled the service before the cutoff and am willing to settle my balance but I am not willing to return equipment that I own and did not lease. I find that request untenable. I switched to cable over the holidays and find the service to be much more responsive and cost less than half that of DirecTV. I was also promised a credit of $20 a month for 6 months to make up for the loss of service while waited for the card to come in the mail. I did not get a credit but I was given is a change of service that added a DVR charge and my owned receivers became leased!
