Today, I tried to bundle my services with Directv to consolidate my television and internet wants. After doing a little online research, I found that Directv had the lowest prices for the basic television and internet that I wanted.
I called their customer services center, and spoke with a lady named Maria who quoted me $65 for the first year of service with internet and television services. After running my credit, setting up an installation time, and getting my credit card information, she transferred me to the internet salesperson. This is where things took a turn for the worst.
The internet salesman told me that even though I already had AT&T service, my bill would go up $10 from the quoted price of $65. I asked why since I'm already an AT&T user, and he would not give me any explanation. I am already paying $40 for the internet, the television package I was getting was $30, so the new price of $75 didn't make sense to me.
I was transferred to a different department, with another lady who said that she could give me a $5 discount (to $70) for the service. She said that yes, I would get a bundle discount in the second year, but the price of the package would go up as well, to $85.
I was transferred back to sales, with a very unhelpful man who said that the customer service agent lied to me, and that he would coach the first agent who misled me. He would be unable to do anything with the price ($75 at this point) but that I would be able to get an additional nine months of Showtime for free.
I politely declined and requested that my service be canceled. He then asked if he had been able to resolve my issue for the day. Really?
I have yet to receive any correspondence from Directv - even though I was told three times that I would receive an email for start of service and cancellation of service.
