We purchased the travel insurance the USAirways airline offered which just so happened to be Allianz. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been on medications for treatment for years. With RA you can have a severe flare causing little if any movement, severe swelling and illness. I have not had a "flare" for a few years and for caution sake we decided to buy the insurance. After many calls back and forth, unanswered email requests, incorrect fax numbers (on their behalf), I called today.
They denied my claim on "pre-existing" condition. The doctor even described it as a severe flare recommending no travel, especially a 6 hour flight to Hawaii. They denied claim saying I have been treated for desease and they would not cover it. I explained that a severe flare caused by an underlying in remission desease is NOT pre-existing. Do not use them... As a matter of fact, take the credit from the airline should you need to cancel your trip in the event of medical emergency! They have recently changed their name. This usually means they HAD too. Stay away and be aware!
