Following the IL Toll Authority's increase this year they are now stealing in excess of $100 per month from us just to go to work! This "tax" is unjustified as the roads are the worst in the mid-west and always under construction. The construction zones are mismanaged and do not take into account their customers, the drivers that are forced to pay, and are severely inconvenient. There just is no end to it and we the consumer are stuck in the middle of it. It always seems to come down to tolls that are too high and service way below par. It's supposed to be the other way around. We should be getting gold medal service for what we're paying, but we're being taken blind. $100 per month is excessive just to get to work. That's a couple of weeks worth of groceries!
It is amazing that WI has lower property taxes, lower gasoline tax, lower income tax, lower sales tax and NO TOLLS and their roads are at least 10X better and their construction zones aren't big cluster f*ks. They keep the user in mind when designing their roads and construction zones.
This is blatant taxation without representation! I demand that the toll booths be removed all over the state and that myself and all of the drivers in the road get their money back all the way back to the year the Tollway Authority was supposed to be ended.
