Ripoff airfare consolidator - books tickets, takes money - then cancels tickets

While I was making internet inquiries to find good fares to Rome, Italy, I received an unsolicited e-mail from Jack Pujji, who claims to be a airfare consolidator. He quoted a fare to Rome that was quite good and I responded to his e-mail. He said that the way payment would need to be handled would be for me to send a certified check in full payment for the airfare. Before I mailed the check, I call the airline to check to see if Mr. Pujji had indeed made reservations for me and my husband. There were reservations in our name, so I sent the check.

When I did not hear from Mr. Pujji after a short while, I called the airlines and found that our reservations had been cancelled. I attempted to contact Mr. Pujji at least a dozen times by phone and e-mail, before he called me back. He called me back only after I found a travel agent that worked with Mr. Pujji and she gave me an alternate phone number for him.

After repeated promises that our tickets would be mailed, and a week before our planned trip, my husband called Mr. Pujji at the alternate number we had, and my husband told Mr. Pujji that he would drive to Mr. Pujji's address in N.Y. If we did not receive our tickets in two days. Mr. Pujji called back and told us he could do us a favor and book a more expensive flight for us, but we would have to fly on three separate airlines and have several stopovers. I told him that this would not be ok with us, and he finally sent us tickets two days before our scheduled trip.

The tickets were for two separate airlines, which was understandable on an international flight, but Mr. Pujji did not allow for enough time between flights and stopovers, and we eventually had to make changes to our itinerary while we were on a layover in Paris.

I believe that if my husband had not threatened to drive to New York, we would never have received out tickets. The stress surrounding receiving out tickets nearly ruined our trip to Rome to visit our daughter, and it has become clear that this scenario has been repeated and that some people dealing with Mr. Pujji apparently never received tickets or refunds for tickets.
