Cheated me out of 207 dollars while my father lay dying in the hospital

My father has been sick for a while now. He lives in Texas where I grew up, but I live in Massachussets where I go to college. After my mother and sister died over the last two years, he has wanted me to move back to Texas. I finish school this year but still cannot move back until the beginning of this year. I told him I would come to see him in the end of August to sign some legal papers for him so that when he dies I can care for his estate and wishes.

Over the last two months, he has been hospitalized four times with congestive heart failure, yet he has never
asked me to come home. He wants me to finish school and does not want me to worry. After the fourth time, I made sure to buy my plane tickets to get there to see him, I dont now how much longer he will last. I bought them through hotwire.com because I only had two hundred dollars to spend and they let you name your own price.

Three days after I bought the tickets, my father called me and said that he needed me there right away, he had been taken back to the hospital and his heart was only functioning at 15% and he had pnemonia and bronchitis. I spoke to a nurse and she said it didnt look good. I called hotwire to try and change my flight or do anthing possible, they told me I needed to get documentation from the hospital saying that he was in the hospital and I needed to be there. So I had his nurse fax me the info and I sent it on to them. Then they said it had to be signed by a physician. I couldnt wait so I took MY RENT MONEY, and bought and emergeny compassion ticket, which the airlines issue when a family member has died or is in the hospital, it is usually half the price of a regular ticket, this time it was almost $700, and flew to texas to be with my father and take care of his financial obligations.

In the meantime I acquired a note from his doctor that said my father had been hospitalized and a note from his cardiologist stating that I needed to be there right now, yet hotwire still said that it was not enough. It stated that I needed to get a note that said that I needed to be there now and couldnt ALSO fly to see him on the 24th. Essentially HOTWIRE is telling me that the only way to get a refund was for my father to DIE. NEVER EVER use HOTWIRE.
