In 1998 I purchased a timeshare in Palm Desert, Ca. At the time of the sale I asked if we were able to sell this timeshare without any conditions, "absolutely", said the sales person.
Now things have apparently changed as they informed me that if I sold the time share outside of their "resale office" the new owner would not be part of the rewards program. I then asked what the commission was if I opted to go thru there office, 40% i was told, you heard it right and it would take up to 18 months.
They have created a monopoly and a guaranteed profit, probably as much if they sold a new timeshare not to mention if I had sold it they would not have to shell out reward points. They get you virtually coming and going.
This would be equivalent to selling a condo and the people who bought it would not be able to use the pool if you hadn't sold it thru their sales dept at a 40% commission.
I feel violated
