Dishonest misrepresentation of fantastic "sunfilled" vacation fort lauderdale orlando florida

My husband and I are newlyweds and never really got to go on our honeymoon after we wed in October. We were planning to go on another vacation at the end of June to make up for the one we missed. May 20th, I received a letter in the mail that looked bonafied enough to open, so I did. I read, with excitement, the insert describing this fantastic "sun-filled" vacation in South Florida. I decided, well, it says we get a $1600 voucher—SOUNDS GREAT—Orlando, Universal Studios, THE BAHAMA CRUISE!!! Neither my husband, nor I have ever been to the Bahamas, on a cruise, or to Universal Studios! I was so excited!

So stupid little me goes to the phone dials the number and I got through immediately. I spoke with Glenda. She was SO ENTHUSIASTIC! She made the hotels and crusie-ship sound like they were plated in GOLD. IT sounded-oh wait a minute, TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE! She made it clear that I was very lucky to have received this exciting fun filled package at the low price of $1396. I was only allowed this one phone call and the package was on a first call first serve basis.

I had no idea what a timeshare was and all she told me was that there would be a 30 minute informational tour of one of their new facilities. Even with this little voice in the back of my mind telling me that this was too much pressure and the whole thing just didn't quite seem right, I decided to go through with it.

I guess the thought of Universal Studios and the Bahamas was just too much. She asked for my credit card info and I gave it to her. She told me since I was taking the vacation so soon, I would have to pay $698 now and the other $698 in 2 days when I called back to get my husbands ticket finalized.

I told my husband about it and he was ecstatic! I woke up the next morning and decided to look up this fabulous place on the internet, so I would know just what to expect. And low and behold, I found all of these reports on what a rip off Ramada was. I was freaking out. $698 is a lot of money to me.

I got a sheet of paper and wrote down things to say to them to cancel my vacation. I tried to call all day that day but the line was either not open or busy. I got up this morning and called them. I called the 1-800-550-9559 number and asked for Glenda, the lady I had spoken to before, but she wasn't there. So I talked to Anthony. He was a supervisor. And after I told him that I wanted to cancel my vacation, he said it wasn't cancellable.

After reading everyone's reports on here, I knew that wasn't true, so I kept on saying it over and over and he finally gave me another number to call. 1-800-203-9783 I called it and talked to a rep named Ronny. He was much more polite. At first he said he didn't think it was cancellable. I persisted nicely. He came back after putting me on hold and tried to give me some upgrades. I told him no, I would rather just have my money back please. He put me on hold again (15 Seconds) and came back on and told me that he was going to refund me 100% & it would be posted on my credit card in 7-10 business days.

So Ronny was a pretty nice guy compared to all of the other reps I've read about on here. I guess I got lucky—I was only on the phone 20 minutes.

I wish there was some way of getting everyone that is on this site together to sue this company. I cannot believe that they are getting away with this crap. Even though I got my money back, and it wasn't as hard as everyone else, I am still going to send letters to Florida and the Better Business Bureau.

If anyone wants to get a bunch of us together and sue this company—do you realize how much money they would lose. We should be able to put this company out of business. THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT! —Right?
