Please tell everyone you know about a travel scam! We rented a cabin for our annual family vacation through the VRBO website. Either VRBO or the actual owner's email had been hacked, but neither is taking responsibility. Although communication was initiated through VRBO they take no responsibility. We wired $3500 to the scammer - NEVER WIRE MONEY - although in this case a check would have cleared. This went on for well over 2 months before it was caught. VRBO takes no responsibility, the owner has offered us 10% discount, but we would be paying double for the same cabin. Please tell everyone you know to not wire money and to be careful of websites like VRBO - you think that you are protected, but you are not!
