Please avoid this airline!
I am not usually one to write bad reviews but what happened to me should not happen to anyone else.
I was told by an Aeromexico employee that I needed to check in my carry-on as luggage on my return trip home from San Jose Costa Rica. Keep in mind that I carried the bag all the way over from LAX without incident. They kept insisting that I needed to check my carry-on. I eventually obliged and when I got to Mexico City to change planes I realized my bag had been opened and gone through.
I initially only noticed that my computer mouse was missing. It wasn't until I got to my gate that I realized they had stolen my digital camera also.
In my formal complaint I retold the story the exact way it happened. It appears to me that they will make you check your bags so they can have the opportunity to rummage through them.
In summary, do yourself a favor and avoid flying with them. Any money that you would have saved by flying with will eventually be used by you to replace your own things.
