Marge Dumham and Kevin Morris Rude and pushy. Had all the signs of a scam from the get go

I was searching web sight and had a pop up from Preferred Guest Resorts saying that i had won $3000 in travel costs (i know, sounds to good to be true).

There was a local looking number and a international number to ring. As i am in Australia and thought no harm in giving a call, i rang the number that said it was a Sydney NSW number.

I got a American lady on the phone who's name was Marge Dumham and later discovered that she was not in Sydney, but in the States. This was fine.

Once i announced myself and told her about the prize, i gave her (as requested) the code that was on my screen.
Congratulations i was told "you have won the best available prize".

From here she proceeded to tell me about the prize. Which included stays in motels in various destinations from Daytona to The Bahamas with 18 months to claim the prize.

At several times i asked if there was a catch. For example - other moneys to be paid by myself up front. To which she replied, all i have to do, is come and enjoy a vacation in our lovely country.

At the end of her speel, she tranafered me to the booking department. Which i thought was strange, because i have no plans on booking this or committing to this what so ever at this point in time.

I then got a gentleman by the name of Kevin Morris who congratulated me and then went thru the prize pack with me and then said what credit would i like to use, as there was a difference of $898.00 between the $3000 prize pack i had won and the normal RRP for this holiday package.

I then said that i had asked if there was a catch about this (to me, paying nearly a $1000 for something like this straight away and with very little time to think about it, is a catch)

He then prompted me (now with a smart arse tone and attitude) that this was a today only deal and that spending a little money to spend time with your family is not a catch.

With this i told him that i spend all of my spare time with my family. (i have a wife and son 3yrs old) Which is alot of time because i work a week on and a week off at a mine site, and when i get home, there is nothing that i rather do than be with my wife and child after being away from them for a week.

Now he proceeded to get ruder and asked if i was broke and then said that only broke people don't leave Australia for a holiday, they all stay there.

He was very rude, pushy and be-littled me as much as he could (even mocked me by pretend to crying on the phone)

With this i got angry and made him aware of my occupation and my income (which is very considerable) and that i would have no troubles affording the money, but would not waste it to come there. Would rather stay here and enjoy my own country. (Americans should not take offence to that please)

So anyone who is somehow contacted by Preferred Guest Resort with a fantastic offer, should know that it, s more than likely a scam of some sort and not waste your time on the phone.
