No customer service in trying to change a flight

We have purchased flights for three people through Orbitz: Seattle to Paris, Paris to Dubrovnik via Barcelona, and Ljubljana to Seattle via Paris. It is for my boyfriend and myself and his 15 year old daughter. These three tickets come to around $6000. After we purchased the flights, it came about that his daughter would already be in Paris with her mother and step-father and would not need to use only the Seattle portion of her flight. We have been on the phone with Orbitz and Air France all day - for about 6 hours on Memorial Day. They have told us there are no options - although Air France told us that Orbitz should be able to make the change - that we must lose the value of all three flights and buy new tickets - as she cannot travel alone as a 15 year old. They have also said that these flight options are all full and that we will not actually be able to travel - although we have hotel and other reservations and are meeting my boyfriend's parents.in addition, we have been hung up by Orbitz customer service in the course of the day. There has been zero ability to problem solve by Orbitz. Any ideas that anyone has would be welcome. We are happy to start the reservation process over and get all new tickets. Throwing away $6000 does not seem like a solution, especially when the airline will be able to sell the seats again.
