Resort communications inc. Fraud, told us one thing and did another without telling us. Cancun

Me, my wife, son, daughter, and my nephew decided to take a tripto Cancun Mexico. I have never been on a big trip like this before. One day we decided to take the ferry to isla mujeres. We were approached by one of the ferry employees and asked if we'd be willing to meet him the next morning so he could show us a new resort opening on xmas day.

We agreed. We were introduced to someone from the resort who was going to take us to breakfast and then a tour of the place. We were shown several different rooms and then ended up in a big conference type room. We were told we could buy into the place for around 17,000.00 dollars and have so many weeks to come there and not have to pay to stay there. We told them we couldn't afford that, so, they came up with a new plan.

They told us we had free medical insurance and if you broke your leg in the jungle you'd be covered. They told us we would have 3 weeks one year to use and the next year it would be 5 alternating every other year. They told us we could save up the weeks for 5 years but we had to use at least 1 week in that time. They told us with the 5 weeks we could go anywhere they had a resort or hotel and we could book a room starting at 199.00dollars and we could have as many adults as we wanted. They told us we could upgrade by paying more money.

We told them we couldn't afford that either. Then they said we could get a studio room for 11,000.00 dollars (rounded off), and the payment would be roughly 139.00 a month. We thought that might work. We put down 2575.00 on a credit card which we were told we had 30 days to cancel out and if we did we would loose our down payment. We trusted the guy that told us all this stuff about the place and how it worked. It was like signing papers for a house.

After getting home and getting over the holidays, we thought that maybe it was a bad idea to do this. We looked at the papers and found that we had been lied to. According the the papers we couldn't have free medical, save any weeks, were limited to 2 adults and 2 children per stay, weren't guaranteed accommadations, can't go mid-week and can't exchange suites because we have a biennial membership. We were told all these things we could use..

I called their 1-800 number on the 4th of Jan. 2011 to opt out of their program. I was told that on page 2 line 16 was a clause that said you have 5 days to cancel out of this program without penalty. I told the woman on the other end of the phone that we were told we had 30 days and if we cancelled within that time frame we would loose our down payment. Her response was "do you have that in writting" I told her no, but we have 4 people that heard it.

That was something else we were not told about no penalty and you get all monies back if you cancelled within 5 days. They told us 30 days and you loose your down payment. I told the woman well, all I can tell you is I did alittle research on the net and would be looking to join a class action lawsuit against them.
