I have sent this letter to Delta twice now, and have received no reply from them.

Because we have always had a good experience when we've traveled with Delta, we booked a trip for my elderly father from Allentown, PA to Omaha, NE via Detroit. My Dad who was traveling alone, is basically wheelchair bound. Since he does not speak or understand English he completely trusted the attendant who wheeled him to a United gate after checking his boarding pass, instead of to his Delta gate. Furthermore, regardless of what his boarding pass read, he was then mistakenly ushered onto a flight headed to Chicago instead of to Detroit! Once on board, a stewardess checked his ticket again for seating, and never noticed that he was on the wrong flight. Needless to say my father became very distressed when he found out he was dropped off in Chicago. An attendant had immediately started to wheel him to the baggage claim area, but by then he had heard the word “Chicago” various times and made the man stop. After much debating and going back and forth between companies, he was finally put on an American Eagle flight to Omaha. We must say that the attendant at the Delta counter in Chicago was very nice, concerned and helpful to the best of her ability, and we appreciate that. Nevertheless, my father is sick with a cold in addition to his age and medical issues, and certainly didn't need to spend so many more hours away from home and experiencing such anxiety. He finally arrived in Omaha at midnight, 12 hours later from when he first boarded the plane in PA. We are extremely disappointed by what has happened! Can he get refunded for all this inconvenience? I'm sure he would be happy with that, which is not too much to ask for all he has been through. I believe you can negotiate this issue with United Airlines to your satisfaction as well as ours.
