Im a current employee of Delta airlines.in the past few years, our leadership has done some horrid things that most of America isnt aware of and I feel I must make it known.
We hired a new CEO in 97-98 (Loe Mullins). At first the employees were assured as the first CEO hired and not promoted from within as every other CEO had been, that he would provide great leadership with his outside views. He came in at a good economic time and everything looked great at first, how quick it changed.
He was the moputh piece for the airlines at the congressional hearings and managed to convince congress that 9-11 caused everything wrong with the airlines. It did have a sever effect, but it shames me to know that the airlines used the deaths of many american to gain money that they later put in their own pockets.
He has now announced his retirement to take place in May, and will take 16 million dollars with him for his troubles. This is not to mention that he makes 62 thousand dollars every day he works. All while screaming that the airlines are broke. He has changed my retirement and basically stolen at least half of what I would have had, raised the cost of my benifits, layed off thousands of my fellow employees, and done all this while guarenteeing his own retirement from bankrupcy and did it under the excuse of making sure none of his management team would leave for better jobs.
As soon as the guarentees were in stone, three executives took the cash and ran, and now Leo is doing the same. It really upsets me that he got away with it and is leaving on his own terms, when he should have been run out of Atlanta on a greyhound bus with his tail between his legs.
Also in his term as the great one, he sub-contrated the majority of our reservations to India for sub standard pay, eliminating thousands of jobs in the US.
Delta was a family that knew how to do business prior to his reign, and we need to get back to doing business like we used to.
