I had received a phone call from Skyline Publishing a few months back, wanting to use my business in there magazine the publish. I was told that the ad for my company would appear at places like local hotels, and chambers. I told them I would need to see a sample of my ad to see how it would appear in the ad. The woman I talked with (I didn't get her name) said they could send me a proof copy. I never at this time said I would authorize any ad from them, but if they wanted to send me a sample of what my ad would look like, I would see if i wanted to do business with them. I got a bill for my ad for $200 dollars, but no proof, so I called them up and told the lady I talked to (again, I don;t recall her name), that I had not received a proof copy of my ad, and that I was not satisfied with there way of business, and that i was not going to do business with them, and not to do any thing more with me.in mid July, I received a package from Skyline Publishing, with a magazine in it, the package was not sealed, and the lip of the package was opened. I looked at the magazine (only), and found an ad in there for my business, but it had a wrong contact phone number for my business. I wrote a note that I had told them that I did not want to do business with them. I had told them this before. I sent the package back to them. I received a call from Skyline Publishing's billing department. (The lady didn't give me her name, she just told me she was from Skyline Publishing, and ask me if I had received my proof package. I told I had, and that I had sent it back to Skyline Publishing, stating that I wasn't going to do business with them, as I had said so in a previous phone conversation. She said I had a binding contract with them, and If I didn;t pay the bill she would submit it to a collections agency. I told her the info was wrong, and that I was not satisfied with it, and that I wouldn't do business with them. She said the same thing, and that I didn't need to send the whole thing back, that there was a change of information sheet (correction sheet) inside to fill out and send back. I told her to send the correct info back to me, and I would look at it and see if I wanted to do business with them. She said she was from the billing dept. I told her I looked at the ad, and the contact number was wrong, and that I figured the magazine had already been placed out to hotels and chambers with my incorrect phone number on it. She said she would contact the the publishing dept to make the corrections and ask me for my business email, or fax. I told her I didn't have a fax, and she asked for my email address. I gave it to her, and she said she would have them make the correction, and call me back. She did call me back, but i didn't answer, because I was filling out this report, and wanted to know if they were a scam, which I had said to another lady in a previous phone conversation, when I had told them in the first place I had not received a proof, and wasn't paying anything, and didn't want to do business with them ever. I had said to the other lady at that time, that I thought they were a scam. I would like to know if there is anything I can do legally to stop this from happening to me and others. I believe they are a scam. Thank you.
