I bought a ticket through Travelocity to depart on April 20 and return on April 21 for business. My meeting was changed to the following day — departing on the 21st adn returing on the 22nd. I called a Travelocity agent (they are in India — you can see where this is going, right?) to assist me in cancelling and re-booking my flight. The agent walked me through the process of cancelling online and re-booking the flight.
I was able to get the exact same schedule for the flight the following day — same airlines, same times and same flight numbers — just a different day.
As it turns out, the original flight was indeed cancelled but was not credited towards my new ticket (as the agent had promised it would be). I asked for a confirmation number and he said the trip ID was my confirmation that everything had been cancelled and re-booked.
I get my credit card statement and I have two separate charges for BOTH flights. I contacted Travelocity yet again and explained the same thing to the agent who could barely speak english and whom I could barely understand. She kept asking me the same questions over and over again even though I had, in plain english, explained it to her. She obviously doesn't understand plain english... They told me they were very sorry but the agent must have made a mistake when I cancelled and re-booked my travel. I informed her that I wouldn't be paying for their mistakes. After 45 mintues on the phone it was escalated to a supervisor who wasn't any better. They acknowledge that there are notes in the system for that day and during the time my flight was cancelled and re-booked, but, does not say that the agent helped me to do that. They have no way of documenting anything. I now have a credit for future travel on an airline I rarely use and through a company that I never plan to use again.
This is unaccepable. I fully plan to contact the Federal Trade Commission regarding this company and urge others who have been defrauded to do the same. They appear to be liars and thieves and are not concerned about losing faithful customers. What a shitty company. Beware of Travelocity — they will steal your money.
