My wife and I had only cruised once before so 12 years later we took our son on a cruise from Baltimoore to Bermuda. While on the cruise we would be celebrating both my wife and son's birthday.
My son has always wanted to swim with the dolphins.in the NCL excursion brochure they advertised swimming with the doilphins at A company called Dolphin Swim for $99. It stated that we had to provide our own transportation from the port. No problem.
We took a water taxi from St. George to the Shipyard Docks where Dolphin Swim was located. The actual price that Dolphin Swim charges was $69, so NCL marked it up an additional $30. Had I known that we would have gotten there like we did and bookled it directly with Dolphin Swim. PLus we were informed that we would not actually be swimming with the dolphins as NCL led us to believe. We would just be in the pool and allowed to pet and touch them. My son was very upset at it but since the day we went was his birthday. The Dolphin Quest staff made an exception and let him "swim". He was happy after that.
We were in suite 7759 which was just a few doors adjacent to the club where the teen disco was held on the last night of the cruise. We got to bed about 11:00pm only to be awakened and up until about 2:00 in the morning by the LOUDEST music we've ever come across. I made 3 phone calls to the front desk and also went there personally twice. I was only give n a lame a*ed excusde that there was nothing that could be done. They offered to move us to another cabin. WHAT??? At 2:00 in the morning on the last night when we would be docking oin just another 6 hours.
I went to the "Contact Us" feature on their website but they make it extremely difficult to actually contact somneon by e-mail. I finally found an address to their corporate office. I asked why I was obercharged $30 on Dolphin Quest when I could have bought it there myself. I was told that the addtional $30 covered transportation to the sight. I also questioned why we were told that we would be swimming with the dolphins when we never did. I told them that we had to provide our own transportation but the answer I eventually got was "SORRY".
They wrote me back with the same story that there was not much that could be done since I failed to accept the offer of moving to another room. As a "good faith" move they gave me a $200 shipboard credit on a FUTURE CRUISE. So inorder to use it I would have to cruise on them again. I couldn't transfer it to anyone else, so in other words they didn't do anything. I told them all along that I would never cruise again.
On the NCL website they have a forum where they "welcome comments". What the fine print says is that all comments could be up to 72 hours before being posted. That's so they can censor them and onl put the favorable ones up. Ive sent these thoughts twice but they've never been posted. Not only that, I've been banned from posting on their website. SO apparently they only want potential guests to think that there are nothing but rave review.
