My husband and I bought a timeshare at the Sunset Group Hotels in Cancun Mexico. The contract (contract number 24 1-16955) was signed on November 10th.
We were told we would get 5 weeks which we could rent for $1500 per week. They did not give this to us in writing. We soon realized that this was all false. (We are also intouch with other people who bought the timeshare at Royal Sunset Resorts who can give proof of the fraud that was commited by Sunset Resorts.)
On November 14th we officially cancelled our contract through an email along with a scanned certified copy of the cancellation letter and copied (CC) PROFECO, US Embassy in Mexico and consumer protection services as proof that the cancellation was made within 5 working day as per the LAW. We also sent a certified cancellation letter by post to the Miami, FL location office.
On November 21st Adriana Lecuona, representative from Royal Sunset Resorts, Cancun, Mexico called us (We have proof of the voice mail recording and we are ready to produce in the court of LAW if required) and told us that our contract has been officially cancelled and that we would receive a copy of the cancelled contract and our initially payment of $8,045.36 will be credited back to our credit card WITHIN 10 days.
On December 12th, after 22 days we called the Royal sunset resort and told them we had not received the copy of the cancelled contract as promised by the Sunset Resort.
On December 16th an amount of $7836.08 was credit back to my credit card.
We have been repeatedly calling the Royal Sunset Resort. We have also sent them numerous emails (We have proof of this as well and provide copies of the email exchanges between Royal Sunset Resort representatives). They keep pushing us around and till date we have not received any proof that they have really cancelled our contract.
We would like the Royal Sunset Resort Cancun Mexico or the "Royal Sunset Resorts" US office location (Club Lagoon, 444 Brickell Ave., #51 - PMB 477, Miami, FL, 33131) to provide us with a copy of the cancelled contract. They keep telling us that our contract has been officially cancelled but they have till date not given us any written proof that they have indeed cancelled our contract.
