I went to a convention* and filled out a card for the door prize - a free trip to Mexico or the Bahamas. A winner was not chosen, and everyone who put in their information was called and offered discount cruises/time shares.*
I was told I had won the door prize, and after hearing about the package* I allowed them to charge $500 to my credit card. I found out later that several of my friends were called as the "winner" in the same day.
To get a refund:
You must act quickly, I did within seven days. Some states protect you under a 30 day refund guarantee. Call your credit card company and tell them that you were a victim of a marketing scam. They will give you the number to call and ask that you get a refund confirmation number. If you allowed Majesty Cruise to charge your card you MUST demand a refund, you cannot simply deactivate your current card.
When you call Majesty Cruise you must be firm! The agent will try to persuade you to keep the package and make you feel like you're missing out on "a deal of a lifetime." Just stay on track and say "I still want a refund." They will even go so far as to twist your words so that you feel you're making a stupid mistake. Do not listen, demand your refund. Stay on the line.
Once you get your refund confirmation number, call your credit card company back and give them the number. This way they can stay on top of your refund.
I will update this report as soon as the charge is removed from my card.
*The convention staff were simply contacted by a travel agent and unaware of their marketing scheme. The staff simply wanted to offer a prize for taking the time to come out to the convention, and were in no way affiliated with Majesty Cruise. I'm currently asking the head of staff to relay my message so that others can act quickly.
*When I was demanding my refund the agent confirmed that they were calling everyone who put their information.
* They initially charge you $500. You will also have to pay for any expenses necessary to get to Florida for your cruise. The Bahamas requires a tax of $160. You must also purchase a passport for you and your travel companion. It is a time share offer - this means you will have to sit in on a lecture about their other offers. This is everything I know of before even trying to go on the cruise.
