We received a post card stating:
We are anxious to confirm your status as a major gift recipient. The xxx family has been selected to receive a (7) night fun-filled cruise for two adults. All meals, on-board activities and entertainment are included. All cruises will be on a Carnival Cruise ship. There are four different cruises to choose from. All to either The Caribbean or The Mexican Riviera. Ports of departure include Los Angeles, CA, Galveston, TX, Miami FL and San Juan PR. Retail Value up to $1800. All that is required is that you attend a 90 to 120 minute presentation showcasing our vacation possibilities. Call immediately.
The post card also listed "a certificate good for $500 in Air Checks (airline discount vouchers).
So here's the deal: After you go waste your afternoon at the timeshare presentation (which we've done before, but have been pleased with our "gifts" in other situations), you get the REAL scoop for your "free stuff."
The cruise is during low season. To register for the cruise, you must send $299 per person for "port taxes and processing fees." Once your registration is activated, you must submit (request) 3 valid dates of departure, with at least a 90 day notice, and 30-days apart. Surcharges apply for peak season or holiday travel.
Also, you can't ask any questions until you've paid the "processing fees". Here's what the form says: To streamline the process, we will not be able to handle any phone calls prior to receiving your registration form. Once your registration validation form is received, you will be given detailed informaton on how to make your cruise reservations."
