Complaint / Review
Safari Inn "A Coast Hotel"
Charged us for cancelled reservation

I reserved a room for a room through Hotels.com. My family decided we wanted to come in early for our vacation. My son called to add an additional day but when he called the reservationist at Safari Inn said they were booked for an additional night. Suggested we call another hotel for the additional room and gave us numbers of the Sheraton Hotel and a couple others. They did not have rooms either. So my son called them back within 10 minutes of speaking with them and cancelled the reservation, which was more than 72 hours of the date to arrive. He asked for a cancellation or confirmation number and they stated they didn't give those out with cancellations. He documented the phone call and on his cell phone it showed the time and date of the call. We found another hotel that could accomadate us. The Highland Gardens. It was wonderful. Anyhow. I noticed a charge to my credit card 2 days after we returned home. I immediately called them to inform them we were never there and had cancelled that reservation several days before. The desk person stated I had to call, Tony the general manager. I called Tony for over two months to have this problem resolved. He never returned my calls. I sent numerous faxes to no avail, in addition to leaving multiple messages on his voice mail. I called Bank of AMerica and filed a claim of fraud. I sent Bank of America the copies of my cell phone bills and letters sent to Safari Inn. Bank of America stated that I never cancelled the reservation and are going to charge my account for the no show reservation. Safair Inn states I never called them and that I made calls to the Sheraton Hotel not to them. I used the number from the cell phone bill for each correspndence I made to Safari Inn. I just can't believe what rip off the Hotel is and how they are denying the calls we made especially with the documentation on the cell phone bill. This complaint to to alert anyone wanting to stay at the Safari Inn to watch out for fraudulent charges. The way the economy is every dollar counts to me. I am an honest person and would never fight for something unless I know it wrong. They are total rip offs. I hope other travelers will see my notice and boycott that hotel and company as I am. I used to stay at the Coast Hotel in Bellevue, WA. But never will again. They will never see a penny from me ever!!! Also, I will never book through Hotels.com as when I called them to tell them the problem they stated I never had reserved through them and I gave them the itinery number. Never again.
