I had been getting these calls and the caller i.D. Read Florida Travel for a about a month and I never answered it, thinking it was telemarketers. My wife finally answered the phone and it was a man asking for me saying he was inquiring about a form that was filled out. He proceeded to tell me that I had acquired a vacation trip to Florida for 8 nights and 7 days. Only asking for $198 for the tickets and that would pay for our plane tickets and that they just needed a credit card number on file.
So not thinking anything about it, because I did in fact fill out the form. Like an idiot I filled out the form and luckily when he ran my card my paycheck had not yet been deposited. I told him in two weeks to give me a call and we could run it then.
We were completely excited being that we had been saving money for a trip around Christmas time anyway. My wife proceed to call her mom and let her know the good news and then she let her know that when the festival was going on uptown when we filled out the forms there was a big article in the paper about those "companies" running a scamming business.
So my wife furious now looks up the number on the reverse caller i.D. On the computer and the number that had been called from was in fact a land line and it wasn't the name that I was given at all. So my wife calls the 888-871-6461 number that they had given me to call if I had any questions and after numerous rings it was an answering machine that picked up that lady barely knew what she was saying completely stuttering and they gave the hours of between 10 am and 2 pm and when they had called it was well after 6 pm.
I immediately called my bank and asked them what to do and they advised me as soon as my money was deposited to withdraw it all and then call and have the card cancelled. I just hope that information is helpful to someone.
