My wife and I spent our weddingmoon at the Sandals Regency at ST. Lucia. The wedding was great, but the service of 99% of the staff was incredibly bad.
If you order room service, your food will sit outside your door for hours on end, attract flies and smell. I know this isnt a big deal but literally our tray sat outside for more than 12 hours and I dont think anyone wants to look at that all day.
Every single one of the restaurants were awful except for the La Toc. All others we had to wait for hours to finish the meal and the food was below the standards one would expect to see if one was in America. And special mention goes to the Japanese Hibachi, Kimono's, who by for had the worst food and service. I just expected to get the best of everything after paying what I did. Im not overreacting either, Ive been on cruises and they beat this place by a long shot.
Im sure Im forgetting a lot of other things but the worst of all was that when we got to the airport to leave we were told that anyone wanting leave the country had to pay a tax. "Figures" we said, but when my wife dove into her purse to fish out the dough, we discovered over $100 dollars missing and that we had been robbed from inside our room. There was no way anyone could have gotten to it when the only people who had access were the maids, who by the way didnt get around to cleaning the rooms until after 5pm every day.
Those are the cons. The location and property is absolutely beautiful and it helped to hide the fact that you couldnt go anywhere to get a decent bite of food. The weather was nice, partly cloudy with slight wind and around 80-90 degrees F.
So for the money it just isnt worht it. I personally feel that we were treated this way because the staff is comprised totally of native St. Lucians and they have this laxidaisical attitude. I think I will never return there unless Ive read reviews that the staff has been changed and lots of changes have happened.
