Lost our wedding photos, minimal compensation ripoff, the business that doesn't give a dam

Hubby and I took a cruise on Enchantment of the Seas in January (I know it was a while ago, but I just found this site). We were to be married at one of our stops on a beach in St. Thomas. We went through a St. Thomas wedding agency and they were VERY professional and everything was handled beautifully. We had a professional photographer take the photos for an extra $100. After wedding, photographer gave us the film to develop on our own.

After hearing Royal Caribbean warn us about taking film through X-rays at airports, etc, we decided to get film developed at ship's photo lab. We put the film in the box and that was the last anyone (supposedly) ever saw of the film.

When we went to pick up the photos the next morning, they lied and told us they were not yet ready, to come back after dinner. After dinner, they pretended to search for them (we did have the envelope stub) to no avail. Next day (my birthday), they still didn't turn up so new hubby contacted the ship's captain. He made an announcement to anyone who may have mistakenly received our photos to please turn them in. He also arranged for us to have the ship's photographer take pictures of us around the ship dressed back up like it was our wedding day. He told us they would be in contact (took our name and #'s) with updates on the photos.

After being home several weeks, we attempted to call RC's cutomer 'no' service (long distance, no 800 #). We were given the run around for a good while, finally speaking with someone who agreed to talk to a supervisor assuring us we could atleast get reimbursed $100 for the photos lost. She gave us her name and extension and told us to call back the next day. When we called back she was like a different person, very rude and stating she never promised us anything and for us to just forget about it. We asked to speak with a person higher up the ladder but never made it past the lack of customer service area. We eventually gave up in June after calling just about once a week.

I know that's what they hoped we'd do and I guess they won this battle, but I tell everyone I know that's thinking of taking a cruise this story and it has kept many away from RC.
