I ordered my ticket online using my Skymiles on Feb 15. I was sent a confirmation stating "Your Award Ticket is Confirmed." Shortly before my flight on 3/27 I received an email asking me to check-in online which I tried unsuccessfully to do. When I called Delta I was told no ticket had been issued and I would have to pay the $75 per ticket late reservation. After explaining the situation the supervisor saw that the error was Deltas not mine and she said she would waive the fee. I thanked her and asked again that she confirm I would only be charged $10 per ticket and she said "That is correct, $10 per ticket - $20 total."
After returning from my trip I received a bill from Delta for an additional $75 per ticket charged to my credit card. I called back and went through the whole story again but was told by the service agent and then her supervisor that I would have to pay the $150 extra because I ordered the ticket late. I reminded them the error was theirs and that I had a written confirmation proving my ticket was purchased in time to avoid the penalty but they still refused. Each person I contacted at Delta kept saying they were sorry I was unhappy with them but that they did not issue refunds.
So here I am with a confirmation in my hand proving I bought my ticket on time but Delta still charging me for buying it at a later date due to an error in their system that accidentally deleted my ticket. Their reason for not issuing a refund is simply, "Our system is not set up to issue refunds."
