More than a year ago, I put down more than $350 toward a deposit on the vacation pagage that is offered. I'm sure you know the one — a week hotel stay, cruise, etc. We were never able to go and did not pay the remaining $349 on the deposit.
Last night I received a phone call from the promotions department. It was quite possibly the rudest phone call I have ever received. The person made statements about the "status of my account" and stated I owed the balance. I informed him that I did not intend to take the vacation and would not be paying the remaining balance on a vacation that I do not intend to take. He continued to push, making statements about my not understanding the terms of my contract (which I have no idea what contract this would be).
After being pushed in this way, I stated again that I was not taking the vacation and that maybe I should ask about the status of my refund for the money I had already paid. He then made comments about how I need to learn what the term "nonrefundable" meant. He also made several other comments and then basically hung up on me.
I checked caller ID and immediately called back. The number was 954-351-0087. I explained what had just occured and was told that I would be removed from the call list. I asked if they really had recorded somewhere that I owed them money, and I was given a different "customer services" number to call. That number is 800-203-9783.
I called the customer service number and explained what had happened and asked if they had me down as owing money for a vacation that I do not intend to take. This person stated that the promotions department was probably just trying to get me to extend my deadline or make another commitment. I told her this was a very rude call and she did not seem surprised.
This morning I called back to the promotions department and asked for a transcript of the call from last night. The person took my number and is supposed to call back. I doubt that I will hear from them again.
I probably would not have pursued a refund of my original deposit and would have considered it a lesson learned. However, now I want my money back. If this company will use my original deposit as a reason to harrass me, I would at least like to give them a reason.
