This is the worst "investment" (as the sales person described it), that I've ever made. Adam Santangelo made the presentation to us back in November promising vacation opportunities for (2) generations. Well, our $4,000 investment didn't even make it 5 years as the company is out of business and appears to have skipped town. We never had the opportunity to take a vacation. We did, however attempt to book flight & hotel accomodations a few times, with the "discounted" pricing not being worth the hassle in dealing with DGTs incompetent travel agents.
So, now a replacement company called Castaways has entered the picture, but they are charging a $199 annual fee to retain the membership. We sent them the check which they claim didn't reach them, however, it cleared the bank. So, we can't even use the service until they get that issue straightened out.in addition, Castaways is providing significantly less than what we were promised in our contract with Discount Global Travel.
We spent $4,000 on Discount Global Travel, not a penny of which has been realized, and DGT has disappeared with our money. How do you attempt to remedy the situation when you can't find the crooks?
This rip-off by Discount Global Travel would undoubtedly warrant a class action lawsuit if all those affected banded together. Let's do something about it! What's the next step?
