My mother's boyfriend got one of these spam fax ads with a come-on for 6 days/6nights in Cabo. My mom and her boyfriend decided to give them a call. The customer representative who answered was Bryant Johnson and he gave them the details and then transferred them to Rachel for a confirmation number. They were told they would receive a list of available hotels via a delivery from DHL. The got some brochures but they were for hotels in other areas of Mexico, not Cabo which is where they wanted to go. My mom called them, got a representative named Tim this time, and was told they didn't have any hotels available in Cabo but they could go to any of the other locations. My mom told Tim they had already been to the other locations and really only wanted to go to Cabo. She was basically told, too bad. She told Tim he had 10 days to refund their money or she would have her attorney contact them and hung up on him.
After she called me (they are elderly and don't use the Internet) I Google'd the phone number and found all kinds of bad news on this company.
Like one of the previous reporters on this website said, this company has at least a couple of different names. They charge credit cards as DBA Vacation and the letter my mom received through DHL had I.R. R in the letterhead. Also like a previous report, the letter had information that was different from what she was told over the phone.
I told them to get to his bank and put a stop payment on the check they had him send them for "hotel tax", contact his credit card company and dispute the charge; call their local sheriff's office and call their local FBI office.
I hope others see these reports BEFORE they respond to these SCAM faxes.
Get your fax phone number on the DO NOT CALL list as quickly as possible!
