Westgate will lie to get you to spend money. They are deciptive, dishonest. They will promise great things, then change the rules before the ink is dry on the contract! Ripoff

My wife and I had purchased a Westgate time share slot back in 1999. We had some problems from the start and things have been getting worse over the years. I initally thought that I was having bad luck but since reading about other peoples experiences, I see a fimilar pattern.

I bought a week at Westgate Villas. I was sold on this "premium" week that could always be exchanged easily for a small fee, along with a number of other promises. At first I said no way. They gave me the business about buying an existing persons week at a discounted cost. I knew this was a sales ploy but they offered us several additional attractive sounding items. We would get a week banked for that year and also a cruse for buying. My wife was a travel agent at one time so she thought the cost of the cruse would offset a good amount of the expense. They even gave us some pamphlets on the cruse. We liked the resort so we signed on.

Some weeks later we tried to book our cruse and vacation week. We found that you have to trade a timeshare week and pay some fees. We also were told that we didn't have a week banked and would have to wait for the next year to use the resort. We asked to talk to the lady who sold us on the timeshare and were told that she left the company (a few weeks back this person was bragging about how long she was with the company and her husband is also an employee etc). I was naive and though that we misunderstood. We used it the first years with moderate satisfation. Now in order to exchange the week they have a new $500 seasonal upgrade in addition to the $130 exchange fee.

If you buy a Westgate timeshare you will pay the price of the $timeshare$, plus the annual fees (about $600 for mine, it started at about $400), plus $130 exchange fee, plus $500 seasonal upgade fee. You will need to pay aditional fees if you let someone other than the owner use your week. Any complaint will fall on deaf ears. We also had a week banked from last year and they are giving us a hard time about using it.

Please be advised: Westgate WILL lie to you to get money from you. They lied to us about several things. You will loose money on the deal and never have satisfation. I can go on and on if I had the energy.
