Left out in the cold ripoff Ventura California

I booked a hotel with hotels.com and paid for it in full more than 4 weeks prior to my stay. My daughter was turning 16 and she invited 3 friends to go to Disneyland. We were at the park and it was getting late so, I decided to call the hotel to let them know that we would be checking in late.

When I reached the hotel which I had booked through Hotels.com they informed me that the company had never booked a room for me. I called hotels.com and was transfered around to several customer service reps. When someone finally had an answer they said that they had contacted the hotel and that they had over booked the hotel and there just wasn't a room available.

The customer service rep. Called around to several area hotels and and when I called back she said that they had found a room for us but, the cost would be higher than the $229.00 I had already paid them for the one night stay. I declined and they said the only thing that they could do was refund my money and it could be up to 30 days before I recieved it!

I then called the hotel that they were supposed to have made a reservation with (the embassy suites) and they got me the exact room that I had originally requested. This could have turned out worse had embassy suites not been so helpful. It was fine for hotels.com to leave myself and 4 teenage girls in downtown Anehiem with no place to sleep for the night!
